A "True Mentor"...
Recently I had a discussion with a good friend on the process of mentoring serious newcomers. It made me reflect on what constitutes a "True Mentor", which I was lucky to have when I started 25 years ago.
It's a given that a Mentor must have a track record of success.
A "True Mentor", however, must also have appreciation for the success of others, the ability to impart knowledge, share successes and failures, opinions and suggestions, in helping you become successful and self-confident to make your own decisions.

The 2011 MPCA National was quite a fantastic trip for us, but here we wanted to recognize the labor of love and dedication by the National Committee and Host Club (MPC of Twin Cities)in making this a great National. The Hotel, ballroom, amenities, hospitality, etc were first rate. Hats off and gratitude to all those involved in making it a success! Unfortunately, there are always those in the minority who perhaps unintentionally, hurt their own club (MPCA) by electing to stay at off-site hotel that was cheaper. This resulted in MPCA not meeting the minimum room nights required. Imagine if everyone did the same thing!...there would be no more Nationals. But this was just a minor thoughtless action of the very few, and overall, it was a fantastic event for ALL!

May 1st, A Very Special Day, Not Related To Dog Shows...
Hooray to the Special Forces and U.S. Army for bringing down Bin Laden, an evil mass murderer. Perhaps this event can bring some closure to the 9/11 victims and their families. A great day of justice for the USA!
With all its faults and issues, there is no better country in the world and no other country we would rather live in. We are very lucky that our parents chose to come to America and make this our country and home!

I've been very fortunate to be in the middle of a great winning ride with our special Min Pin girl "Classie". But, have been around long enough to know that such rides are not permanent. Therefore, one must remain humble, not too confident, not cocky, and to share the ride with those who sincerely care while it lasts. Hope it will be for a long while longer though :-)

The Breed Standard is a blueprint that defines perfection to strive for, options to choose from, disqualifications to avoid. Don't try to change It...Breed to It...And if you can't abide by It, do the breed a favor and find another breed that suits your preferences.

A well deserving dog is sometimes left out of the ribbons not because of bad judging...but because of poor presentation.
